Vocational Experiences at Kamo High School
Many international students arrive in New Zealand for the experience of a Kiwi lifestyle. However, most of them do not have a specific vocational direction to align their education subjects.
Celeste, one of our lovely students from Italy demonstrated an amazing support to her host sister and indicated that she loved young children. And so, we furthered this discussion by
prompting her to consider a teaching career with early childhood or first year entrants at school. To assist our young woman, we partnered with our local primary school and created an opportunity for work experience within the classroom.
Kamo High School is now extending the vocational experience and partnering with other professional occupations to provide knowledge of educational qualifications recognized throughout the world in specific careers.
“Celeste came to Kamo Primary School and spent a day working alongside one of our Year One classes. She took part in all classroom activities and spoke to the class about Italy and
her life there. The children loved working with her and she interacted well with our teaching team. We would love to have her back again.”
