Grace, our newest student ambassador moved to New Zealand from Fiji 2 years ago with her family and is attending Whangarei Girls’ High School. We asked her about what it’s like living in Northland.
What do you love most about studying at school in New Zealand?
Being a student at Whangarei Girls High school, I enjoy very much the opportunities and support that they provided. I have been able to go out of my comfort zone and mix with so many different people in my classes and whanau. I love the types of clubs that are organised in the school, especially the badminton club.
What are your favourite experiences in Northland?
My favourite experience in Northland was the Poor Knights trip when I took geography.. So far, that has been the most memorable and best experience I had in my life. I had so much fun as everything was new to me such as snorkelling, kayaking and the best part of all was I met so many people of different cultural backgrounds on that trip starting from Japan, France to Switzerland.
What are your interests, sports and hobbies?
I like to stay active, I enjoy exploring all kinds of things about the world because It is very fascinating and beautiful. I love playing badminton. My hobbies are watching dramas such as Korean dramas.
What is your favourite local place to hang out with friends?
My favourite place to hang out with friends would depend on how much we all have, to be very honest. l would just say McDonald’s as it is always within budget most of the time
