Meet Student Ambassador: Simone

Simone is from China and is studying at Kerikeri High School while living with a kiwi host family in Kerikeri. She is one of our 2021 Study Northland Student Ambassadors so we asked her a few questions about kiwi life.

What made you choose Northland?
My cousin studied at Kerikeri High School and recommended it.  I was also attracted to a Northland school because the number of Chinese students studying here is low and so I knew I would have to speak English all the time.

What do you love most about studying at school in New Zealand?
Maths is very easy to me and my time after school is free time for me to do my hobbies.

What do you love most about Kerikeri High School?
The teachers are helpful.

What are your favourite experiences in Northland?
Learning a different culture.

What is like living with a homestay family?
Its pretty cool!  It feels like a new life has started for me.

What are your interests, sports and hobbies?
Badminton, Soccer and playing the guitar.

What is your favourite local place to hang out with friends?
I love hanging out in town (Kerikeri) , I like looking at the shops with my friends, including food shops like New World and Countdown.
