Nanami is from Japan and is studying at Tauraroa Area School while living with a host family in rural Whangarei. She is one of our 2020 Study Northland Student Ambassadors.
We asked Nanami a few questions about her stay in Northland…
What do you enjoy most about school in New Zealand?
I have never experienced drama class in japan and I really enjoy having drama class now.
What are your favourite experiences in Northland?
I went to Auckland as a drama trip and my classmates and I saw a Shakespeare show. It was so interesting.
What is it like living with a homestay family?
I live with my host mother and she teaches me English a lot. Also I like talking with her about New Zealand culture and Japanese culture. We often compare our culture, and we find new things.
What are your interests, sports and hobbies?
I like playing softball because I’ve played softball for 6 years. Also I like reading books. I’ve seen the Harry potter movies but I’ve never read them, so I’m reading the first one now.
