Meet Student Ambassador - Guide
We talked to Guide from Thailand, who is studying at Kerikeri High School while living with a host family in Kerikeri. He is one of our 2020 Study Northland Student Ambassadors.
“I chose Northland because of the beautiful landscape and the warm weather.
I love that you can chose your subjects here in NZ and that you can also learn about a different cultures traditions. Also the students are very friendly and I have made Kiwi friends.
My favourite experience in Northland so far is going on the Poor Knights trip at the end of last year.
I just loved snorkeling out there. The Poor Knights are out of this world ! I saw, amongst lots of other fish, a turtle, big snapper and stringrays.
My Kiwi host family is very nice and make me feel very welcome. I was very nervous at the beginning as life in NZ is very different. My hosts take time to explain things to me, take me to new places and also teach me new things.
I am very keen on sports and love how you can try out so many different things here. At school I have tried: Badminton, Volleyball, football, basketball, table tennis, mountain biking, cross country and athletics.
In my spare time I go for runs or go to the gym with my host brother.
After school I catch up with friends on the field in town, close to the skate park or we meet at McDonalds.”
